What’s a personal tagline, and why you need one now!

If you believe the phrase: “You are what you think”, then life truly stems from your thoughts. But how do you translate thoughts into words—and eventually into actions in order to achieve your goals and dreams? Here’s where having a personal tagline is golden!

A personal tagline is part positive affirmation, part personal branding, and part elevator pitch. A tagline is a simple, positive statement declaring specific goals in their completed states. Your tagline can help you focus on goals, get rid of negative, self-defeating beliefs, and program your subconscious mind.

Your tagline states what you expect from yourself and what others will experience from being around you. It’s the promise you make to yourself and how you’ll show up in the world.

Examples of taglines would be like these:

“I am the architect of my life; I build its foundation and choose its contents.”

“Today, I am brimming with energy and overflowing with joy.”

“My body is healthy; my mind is brilliant; my soul is tranquil.”

“My future is an ideal projection of what I envision now.”

“I have been given endless talents which I begin to utilize today.”

Maybe you’re thinking that those statements are just words and not the truth. But the real truth is: words become things. The words you say to yourself will become you. This means you have to be very careful with your words, choosing to speak only those which work toward your benefit and cultivate your highest good. So, but where do you start?

How do you find your tagline?

A tagline is not your entire mission statement, it’s the essence of your personal mission and vision distilled down to just one sentence.

Here are some ideas as to how to articulate your personal tagline:

Start with the words “I am.” (These are the two most powerful words in the English language.)

Use the present tense.

State it in the positive.

Affirm what you want, not what you don’t want.

Keep it brief.

Make it specific.

Include an action word.

Include at least one dynamic emotion or feeling word.

Make affirmations for yourself, not others.

Where do you put your tagline?

You can use your tagline as a constant reminder about how you want to behave and respond every day of your life. So, it’s important to place it where you’ll be reminded. A sticky-note on the bathroom mirror and your car’s dashboard. Write it on a card and carry it in your pocket—every time you reach in your pocket, it’ll act as a reminder.

Most importantly, you can put your tagline in the tagline section of your Vision Board in your PlanPlus Online account. For now, if you haven’t chosen your personal tagline, we’ve provided several motivational statements to choose from.

Your PlanPlus Online account includes a comprehensive Vision Board.

Doubtless you’ve heard it said that most of us never get what we want because we don’t know what we want. Making a Vision Board is a wonderful way to bring clarity to that general desire and turn it into a specific achievable goal. At the top of the Vision Board page of your PlanPlus Online account, we’ve given you a place to choose or write your personal tagline. You place your tagline at the top of your Vision Board as a small but powerful reminder of your purpose and values as you plan your week.

What we focus on expands.

When you create a vision board and place it in a space where you see it often, you essentially end up doing short visualization exercises throughout the day.
